Onitha Longwe

Onitha Longwe graduate of Education Without Borders mentoring/tutoring in Gugulethu, a black township outside Cape Town, South Africa, at 2017 Toronto South African Film Festival, chatting with the Reginald Show.

During the conversation Onitha Longwe shared:

– about how she grew up in poverty, plus it was the mentorship/tutoring from EWB that gave her the educational tools to go from failing math in Grade Nine to eventually graduating from University of Cape Town’s Physiotherapy program with a B.Sc.

-how her Aunt and Uncle stood by her and inspired her to keep going

-how there is high drop rate in the schools within the Townships in South Africa; in addition to the high crime rate, high unemployment and so much more
